Computational transcriptomics in neurodevelopment

Lab Values

We strive to be resourceful and efficient computational biologists conducting Bioinformatics research in an organised and supportive lab environment. We accept failures and problems as part of personal development and overcome them in a systematic and logical manner. We value open communication and maintain healthy body and mind through balanced work-life activities. The people in the Hamid Lab are our greatest asset.

Research

Our lab is particularly interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal development by developing sophisticated computational methods that employ cross-disciplinary AI/ML and advanced statistical approaches. Using whole-tissue and single-cell transcriptomics, we study how post-transcriptional mechanisms tightly regulate the expression and functional outputs of lineage-specific neuronal genes.

Software

We enjoy programming very much and believe in developing robust, simple-to-use bioinformatics and image analysis tools for anyone to use.
